Barry Sheene
This is an individual, one-off piece of hand-crafted pyrography art-work of Barry Sheene, British World Champion motorcycle road racer, with a racing career stretching from 1968 to 1984.
A little background to my art. Pyrography dates back to the 17th century, and literally means "writing with fire", from the Greek pur (fire) and graphos (writing) and is achieved by hand using a special electrically heated pen.
This original piece of un-framed 200mm x 127mm (approx. 8" x 5") artwork has been burnt into a solid piece of natural lime wood totally by hand, taking in excess of 4 hours for me to complete. The finished work was then coated twice with Danish Oil to protect it. If this item is framed after purchase, it should be done without glass to allow the artwork to “breathe”.
The reverse of the lime has been left natural, to allow you to add own options for hanging if required.
